 Brandy's Corner:
The halls of Absorbent Minds were filled with quiet chatter as children laughed, giggled and hugged old friends as they started back to school this week. New students have made the transition smoothly and have been meeting many new friends. Each day we have seen bright, smiling faces come into each class; all looking forward to a day full of fun and learning!
Every teacher has impressed me with their enthusiasm, energy and creative ways of making each student feel right at home. The classrooms look beautiful with brand new tables and chairs, and the personal touch of Mrs. Cooper and Mr. John has created an environment rich in curiosity and knowledge.
We are looking forward to our "specials" this week. Tuesday, Ms. Lisa will come with melody and rhythm as we begin Music class. Students will participate in dancing, finger plays and singing. On Thursday every child will look forward to being silent with Ms. Brown as she introduces them to Sign Language. Children will develop their fine motor skills as well as learn a new form of communication. Friday, Senora Lisa will bring her puppets and guitar to help us learn Spanish! From colors, to animals, to family members, your child will be learning how to say all these familiar words in another language. Watch for weekly updates in your child's take home folder about each "special."
Ice Cream SocialThere is nothing better than cold ice cream on a hot summer day. Come celebrate the start of school with us on Friday, September 11th at 6:30pm. Parents, students and family members will have the opportunity to meet each other and enjoy the company of wonderful people! We will be at Waterworks Park in the "Little Stone" pavilion. There is a large playground next to the pavilion and we will have Corn Hole games set up for kid in us all! Please RSVP to Brandy@TheSmarterKids.com by Wednesday, September 9th. Tell me how many people will be attending.
Absorbent Minds T-Shirts
Who doesn't love t-shirts? Absorbent Minds Montessori School t-shirts are available for each child. If your child has not received a t-shirt and would like one, please stop in the office to pick one up.
Moms, Dads, Grandmas and Grandpas, you can match your "Smarter Kid!" Adult t-shirts may be purchased for $10.00 per shirt. Stop in the office to pick one up.

 Cooper's Corner:
Mrs. Cooper and Ms. Courtney's class will be exploring animal classification during the month of September. They will learn about Mammals, Birds, Fish, Amphibians, Reptiles and Dinosaurs. Students will observe the differences between animals in these categories such as how they breathe, where they live and how they feel to the touch. Children will have the opportunity to create a booklet for each group of animals. The booklet will contain pictures of animals for each category colored by your child. |
 Mr. John's Corner:
Mr. John, Ms. Karen and Ms. Brown will be introducing their students to Healthy Habits, Food Groups, the idea of Living and Non-Living objects as well as different animal classifications. They will begin discussing Mammals in September and continue with Birds, Fish, Amphibians, Reptiles and Dinosaurs in October. The children will gain an understanding for what healthy means, what habits are, and why it is important to have healthy habits and eat right. Students will learn the characteristics of animals in the categories above and they will explore their similarities, differences and habitats. |
Enrichment Activities:
Little Racquets Tennis will begin Monday September 14th and run through October 19th. If you would like your child to participate, click here for the registration form. All registration forms must be turned in by Wednesday, September 9th to the office. | |
